Eight things we do to vehicle glass

Vehicle glass
services

Most of it comes down to two questions: can this be repaired rather than replaced, and does the car have a camera that has to be recalibrated afterwards. Answer those and the rest follows.

Not sure which you need?

Send the reg and a photo of the damage. We will tell you whether it repairs or replaces and whether recalibration is part of it, before you commit to anything.

All eight,
in plain terms

Windscreen replacement

The big one. Old screen cut out, aperture prepped and primed, new glass bonded with in-date urethane, fresh mouldings, and a drive-away time you get in writing before we pack up.

Windscreen replacement

Chip & crack repair

Cheaper, quicker and better for the car if the damage qualifies. Resin injected under vacuum, cured hard, and the structural integrity of the original glass kept intact rather than replaced.

ADAS recalibration

Static on a level floor, dynamic on a road drive, or both where the maker asks for it. Printed report every time.

ADAS recalibration

Side & rear glass

Door glass, quarter lights, heated tailgates. The fiddly part is getting the broken glass out of the door card and the seat runners, and we do that properly.

Mobile fitting

Home, work or roadside. Three metres of clear space, somewhere dry, and weather that lets urethane cure. If it does not, we move you rather than risk it.

Insurance claims

We speak to the insurer so you do not have to. You pay the glass excess, we invoice them for the rest, and you keep the choice of who does the work.

Heated & sensor glass

Heated elements, rain and light sensors, acoustic laminate, head-up display. All matched off the VIN, because the same model takes several.

Heated and sensor glass

Van & HGV glass

Panel vans, tippers, curtainsiders, tractor units. Bonded or rubber glazed depending on the vehicle, and a two-person lift on the big ones.

Two things people get wrong

Cheapest is not the same
as least expensive.

Almost every complaint that reaches us about somebody else’s work comes down to one of two shortcuts, and both of them save about twenty pounds.

  • Old mouldings refitted instead of new ones, which whistles from about fifty miles an hour.
  • The camera left uncalibrated, which nobody notices until the car brakes for a shadow.
  • Urethane used past date or applied cold, which is a leak in the first wet week.
  • Bare metal left unprimed in the aperture, which is rust under the trim in two winters.
  • A repair done on damage that should have been replaced, which scars in the eyeline.

Where you are matters

A permit bay in Clifton, a multi-storey with a height barrier and a farm yard are three different jobs with the same glass.

The area pages say what changes.

Choosing between them

Which one
do I need?

How do I know if it can be repaired?

Rough rule: smaller than a £2 coin, not in the wiper sweep, not in the driver’s line of sight, and not touching the edge of the glass. Meet all four and a repair will almost certainly hold.

Send a photo with a coin next to it and we will tell you in minutes rather than guessing on the phone.

Does my car need recalibration?

If there is a camera module behind the rear-view mirror, yes. In practice that means most cars from about 2018 and a good many before. We check it against the VIN rather than asking you to know.

Mobile or at the unit — which is better?

For a repair or a straightforward replacement, mobile is easier for you and no worse for the job. Static calibration needs a level floor and controlled lighting, so those come to us.

We will tell you which yours is when we check the registration, not when we arrive.

Should I claim on insurance or just pay?

If your excess is higher than the repair, pay. For a replacement it usually goes the other way. Glass cover normally sits apart from the rest of the policy so the bonus is untouched, but check the wording.

All of it, anywhere here

Every service above is available across the whole patch. The only thing that changes by location is whether the van comes to you or the car comes to the bay.
